This category contains verbs belonging to the class of Irregular verbs identified in Quirk 1985 as Class 2. It is identified as having the following characteristics:

  • Two suffixes are used in the past forms:
    • in the past participle, 'regular variation' is permitted: use either the past tense ('-ed') form, or a nasal equivalent ('-n');
    • in the past tense tense, only '-ed' is used.
  • All forms of the verb have the same vowel.
