Gerard, John (1st ed., 1597) The herball, or generall historie of plantes, (1 vol.): London: E. Bollifant, for B. and I. Norton.
This early work of botany is a major source for modern understanding of the knowledge of the time, as for the names of plants as then used. It owes a great deal to the Herbal of the Fleming Rembert Dodoens, published in 1554, of which it is largely a translation.
