The surname of the great English poet John Keats (1785-1821) is pronounced to rhyme with 'eats' and 'sweets', IPA: /kiːts/. Do not confuse him with the great Irish poet (William Butler) Yeats (1865-1939), whose name rhymes with 'plates' and 'gates', IPA: /jeɪts/.
