Oxford Reference On-line

This is a bibliography page, concerning a work to which reference is made elsewhere in this guide.

Oxford Reference Online (http://www.oxfordreference.com) is an on-line subscription service. It "provides searchable access to over 130 quick reference and language dictionaries published by Oxford University Press. In-depth scholarly articles are also available via the Oxford Companion Series. The collection includes the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations and the World Encyclopedia." It is available in different forms. Many academic institurions subscribe through Athens, and many public libraries in England subscribe, allowing the use of a local public library ticket to enable access.

It is now (2013) called simply Oxford Reference.
