Collins COBUILD is an imprint of the Publisher HarperCollins, particularly HarperCollins UK. The predecessor firm of Collins joined with Birmingham University in 1980 to construct the 'COllins Birmingham University International Language Database'. This resulted in the collection of an enormous corpus (over 600 million words, and continuing to be added to) of English usage in real life known as the Bank of English. This resource lies under a series of books for those learning and studying the English language. These include:
- Collins COBUILD Advanced Learner's English Dictionary
- Collins COBUILD English Grammar
- Collins COBUILD English Usage
- A Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs
- A Dictionary of Idioms
and various spin-offs, such as smaller versions of the above, workbooks and so on.
