Although the title Christ is pronounced with a diphthong, or vowel glide, as 'Kraist' (IPA: /kraɪst/), the branch of Theology dealing with the study of Jesus Christ, christology, and its related adjective christological, are pronounced with a short '-i-' in the first syllable, not the long diphthong: 'krist-O-lodge-y' (IPA: /krɪst ˈɒ lɒdʒ ɪ/) and 'kris-ter-LODGE-i-kel (/krɪst ɒ ˈlɒdʒ ɪk əl/).
