Stet is a useful Latin word. It is less used these days than it used to be, but it is still a valuable tool in proof-reading and similar fields. Its literal meaning is 'Let it stand', or 'Let it stay'. In its English contexts, it is used after a reader has mistakenly corrected something. It means 'Ignore my correction. Keep the text as originally written'.
