Coronary

The adjective coronary is traditionally pronounced with the stress on the first syllable, and the weak (unstressed|) vowel the shwa in the next two syllables: 'KORR-'n-'r i', IPA: /ˈkɒr ən ər ɪ/. The same is true when coronary is used substantively.

It is regarded as an error in academic circles to pronounce coronary with the stress on the second syllable, giving it the vowel of 'own' and 'phone': 'cur-OWN-er-i', IPA: /kɒr ˈəʊn ər ɪ/.
