Honey bee

The common English name of apis mellifera has two elements,'honey' and 'bee'. There is dispute over how to amalgamate them: is it honey bee or honeybee (or even honey-bee)?

Most formally, it is the Western honey bee.

Beyond that, the traditional practice appears to be, ‘When in doubt, use a hyphen’.
