Label

The inflections of the verb' to label' can give trouble to writers, partly because the habit is different in British and American varieties of English.

• In British English, the past forms are labelled, and the present participle labelling (both with two '-l-'s.
• In American English, they are written with one '-l-': labeled and labeling.
