Libel (inflections)
From Hull AWE
The inflections of the verb 'to libel' can give trouble to writers, partly because the habit is different in British and American varieties of English.
- In British English, the past forms are libelled, and the present participle libelling (both with two '-l-'s).
- In American English, they are written with one '-l-': libeled and libeling.

- AWE also has an article on the difference between libel and slander.
