This is a category designed to include some history books that tell the stories that many people know about British history - although there may be no evidence at ll for their being historical fact. In other words, history students should take no notice of the books in this category - except, perhaps, for amusement.

These books are included in AWE as the are easy to read, some being written foir children, and others parodying children's attitudes; and because they may serve as a quick introduction to a part of British culture that may be of interest and even help, perhaps mostly to students who have come to the UK from abroad.
