"Those in peril on the deep" is a line from a much-repeated Christian hymn, sung an all occasions on which prayers are offered for the safety of peoople at sea, such as on church services involving the Royal Navy. Its first verse is

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm doth bind the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep:
O hear us when we cry to thee,
For those in peril on the sea.

It was wqritten by William Whiting (1825–1878) in 1869.
